Khuli Chana, Cassper Nyovest to perform at Maftown Heights

2013-11-21 10:28

Maftown Heights, the biggest event on the South African hip-hop music calendar, takes place on November 29 at Newtown Park, Joburg – the first time it will be staged in the great outdoors. Another first is that it will include a non-hip-hop act on its line-up.

Here’s what you can look forward to:

Ice-Prince: The Nigerian hip-hop superstar and winner of the BET 2013 Award for Best International Act: Africa. Ice-Prince also worked with the MotswakOriginator himself, Khuli Chana, on the remix of Aboki.

Khuli Chana, the 2013 South African Music Award winner for Album of the Year, who recently made headlines after a run-in with police.

Morafe: Khuli Chana will again join forces with Kay-G and Towdee, the group that brought us the hit song, The Whole Thang.

Mafikizolo: For the first time in the four-year history of Maftown Heights, this non-hip-hop act will perform.

Cassper Nyovest: Hailing from Mahikeng, he brought us Gusheshe.

AKA: The Winner of the Best Street Urban Music Album and Male Artist of the Year awards at the 18th Samas.

DJ Lemonka: The man whose aim it is to bring a different sound to the hip-hop subgenre, Motswako, and to showcase young talent.

Teargas: The award-winning trio will be performing their greatest hits.

» The event runs from 5pm to 3am. Tickets are available from Computicket and cost between R250 and R400 (VIP tickets)
