Kidnap accused released on bail

One of the three men accused of kidnapping the five-year-old son of

an Angolan mining magnate was granted R5 000 bail by the Johannesburg

Magistrate’s Court.

The State decided not to oppose Domingo Santiago’s bail application

and his case was postponed to June 23.

Meanwhile, his co-accused, Francisco Jose and Fernando Jamba, were

remanded in custody until their next court appearance on June 1.

Samuel Amoes’s kidnappers allegedly demanded a ransom of over R1

million that was paid two days after the boy was snatched from a church play

group early this month.
