Kung Fu Panda 2 is the favourite to win the best movie gong at the Annie Awards after picking up a leading 12 nominations yesterday for the top honours of the US animated film industry.

The film’s main competition comes from the Shrek spin-off Puss in Boots and Rango, which both earned nine nominations apiece.

An additional seven movies were nominated for the best feature prize, including Cars 2, The Adventures of Tin Tin, A Cat in Paris, Arthur Christmas, Arrugas, Chico & Rita, and Rio.
