Last suspect arrested in kidnapping, murder case

2013-07-13 11:28

The last man wanted in connection with a Soweto kidnapping case was arrested today.

Gauteng police’s Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said three men were initially arrested after they allegedly kidnapped a 26-year-old man from Naledi in May.

They allegedly kept him in Mpumalanga and demanded ransom from his parents. “After the three were arrested, one of them was still free. Now we have the last man, who led us to the body,” Makhubela said.

He said the body was found near an army shooting range in Middelburg. It was exhumed on Saturday morning.

“The body will undergo DNA testing to ensure that it was indeed the 26-year-old man who was kidnapped.”

“The three men will appear in the Protea Magistrates’ Court on Monday. One of the men has turned state witness.”

A case of kidnapping and murder was opened and police will continue with investigations.
