2010-07-13 12:49

Gospel diva Hlengiwe Mhlaba will invade Durban nightclubs this week

to spread the Word of God during a lavish party for kwaito star Thokozani

“T’zozo” Zulu.

Zulu, who will be turning 32 this week, will spend more than R60

000 on his party. The birthday bash over four consecutive days will be attended by

many popular kwaito artists and DJs.

Mhlaba is expected to open the first party tomorrow at De-La-So

nightclub in Morningside, Durban. The second party will be held on Thursday at Plush nightclub in

Springfield Park, north of Durban. On Friday, it takes place at Madlula Place in Pietermaritzburg and

on Saturday at Afro Lounge in Durban.

The closing bash will be held on Sunday at the Kwa-Max tavern in

Umlazi township, south of Durban.

Zulu said: “The reason I decided to invite Hlengiwe Mhlaba is to

celebrate my birthday in a different style. Some of the popular spiritual songs

she will sing for the crowd are Count the Blessing, Mhlekazi and He Lifted Me Up.”

Other artists expected to perform are Oscar “Oskido” Mdlongwa and

Mahoota versus Vetkuk.

Some of the 15 DJs that will entertain the nightclub revellers

include Mthokozisi “Tira” Khathi, Mbuso “Sox” Sokhela, Siyanda Tshabalala,

Bongani “Bongs” Dlamini and Siyabonga “Chinaman” Gumede.

» The owner of Plush

nightclub, Kgolo Temba, said people were expected to “dress smart in order to be

selected to enter for free”. Entry will be R100 per person, while VIP tickets

are R150 per person.
