Leadership needed in fight against HIV/Aids

2010-11-05 12:00

Leadership was needed in the fight against HIV/Aids in all communities, health minister Aaron Motsoaledi said in Durban today.

“We must fund programmes dealing with HIV, care and prevention. We must give leadership in our communities,” said Motsoaledi, speaking at the Positive Convention held at Elangeni Hotel. “I’m happy with the HIV campaign in this province because of leadership.”

He said people living with HIV/Aids should live positive lives and healthy lifestyles.
He added: “People living negative must stay negative by taking care of themselves and others.”

The minister said HIV positive people should be ambassadors in the fight against the disease. “People living with HIV and Aids are ambassadors and the faces of the HIV campaign.”

The opening of the convention was attended by KwaZulu-Natal premier Zweli Mkhize and the provincial health MEC Sibongiseni Dhlomo.
