League Festival heads to Bloem

2015-03-13 17:49

The spotlight will focus on Heidedal in Bloemfontein as the next hosts of the SAB League Football Festival on Saturday.

Free State will be the third province after Limpopo and KwaZulu-Natal to stage the tournament.

Four sides – Kovsie FC, Ace Lovers, Kingston FC and Lazio FC – who are affiliated to the SA Football Association’s (Safa’s) Motheo region, will square off at the Clive Solomons Stadium from 1pm.

As part of the festivities SAB, in partnership with Safa, will conduct workshops for coaches and referees from the Motheo region before the matches.

According to the organisers, these activities will be conducted by highly qualified instructors in a bid to improve the standard of coaching and refereeing in the country.

The SAB league is ranked as the country’s largest football development structure with more than 30 000 participants across the 52 Safa regions.

SAB’s sustainable development and corporate social investment manager, Muzi Chonco, said: “The Free State province possesses rich football talent. This is the province that is currently holding the title of the SAB League Under-21 National Championships. There is no doubt that we will witness an exciting day of football from talented players in the Free State, and urge the community to come and enjoy the football on the day.”
