Lekota to arrive at party headquarters

Ousted Cope president Mosiuoa Lekota was expected to arrive at the

party’s headquarters in Braamfontein today.

This followed a tumultuous weekend during which a vote of no

confidence was taken against him.

Lekota is embroiled in a bitter leadership battle with newly

installed acting president Mbhazima Shilowa.

Lekota yesterday affirmed his position as president of the party,

telling journalists that he would be going to his office at the party

headquarters today.

A small media contingent hovered outside the building in Braampark

awaiting his arrival.

Lekota and Shilowa were high-ranking veterans of the ANC when they

broke away and formed their own party around the time Thabo Mbeki resigned as
