Life minus BBM...

2011-10-15 18:17

Waking up on Tuesday without being able to have my morning bonding session with my BlackBerry made me feel completely suicidal.

Okay, perhaps I am exaggerating a little, but that’s how disconnected I truly felt, even though I managed to get out of bed and get ready for work.

See, I have a habit of waking up 30 minutes before time just to tweet with my mates, update my BlackBerry Messenger status, my Facebook status, blog on Tumblr and send a shout-out on my Foursquare.

This is how my morning with my BB Bold 9700 begins – we just bond!

But nothing worked, so I rebooted thinking it was a minor BB issue. But little did I know that its makers, Research In Motion (RIM) or whoever, had cut my oxygen supply.

I lost my mind at the thought of attending the week’s events without my social networks. That meant my virtual friends were not going to be at the party with me via my BB or see who was wearing what via my Twitpics.

It was just so devastating. Now I would have to make meaningless conversation and learn to dial from scratch.

How I lived through the Nokia 3310 era in 1999 I don’t know, because that was what it felt like I owned, except this baby had cost about R3 000.

Wednesday, still nothing but Steve Jobs jokes and being dissed by Nokia users made me feel even lamer!

Thursday, we were back in action and yes, all we got was a “sorry for the inconvenience” but hey, rather back than never.

I love my BB and I refuse to get a Nokia just because they were not disconnected for two or so days. Yes, it was sheer misery and torment but all is forgiven and forgotten.
