Long queues are not for me – Born Free

2014-05-07 18:12

A first-time voter in Diepsloot, north of Joburg, has vowed not to vote again unless the IEC changes the voting system.

“As a Born Free, I feel we should not be standing in long winding queues in the hot sun while today’s technology is so advanced,” said 20-year-old Annah Molla.

“I will not vote again next time as long as I have to queue like this.”

Asked how she wanted to cast her vote, she said votes could be sent straight to the Independent Electoral Commission via cellphone as long as a voter is registered.

“Government should start using available technology ... this method is ancient,” she said as she looked at the winding queue at the Diepsloot Combined School.
