Lovers’ quarrel ends in suicide

2011-09-06 14:22

A police officer shot and wounded his girlfriend before killing himself near Wolmaransstad in North West.

The police’s Constable Provia Tseke said the officer and his girlfriend were in her rented room in Makwassie when he shot her with his service pistol around 7pm yesterday.

The officer ran away, and police later found his body in his apartment nearby. “We suspect an argument between the two lovers led to the shooting, but it is not yet known what they were quarrelling about.”

Tseke could not say how the officer, stationed at the Makwassie police station, committed suicide. His 40-year-old girlfriend was said to be in a stable condition at the Wolmaransstad Hospital.
