Lovesick public servant uses mass email to find woman

2010-11-15 09:11

Sydney – An Australian public servant took the unusual step of emailing all staff at a government department to help him find a woman he met at a party, a report said today.

The man, who works for the Department of Immigration, sent the mass email asking if anyone could put him in touch with a woman who had made a strong impression on him. “Life is too short for regret,” ABC radio reported the man as saying.

“I understand this is not the most appropriate channel. It is not my intent to misuse this email address,” he reportedly wrote, adding that he had struggled to write the message.

The Department of Immigration confirmed that a worker sent “an inappropriate email” today to all staff working in the national capital, Canberra, but refused to comment on the content of the message.

“The matter is being investigated by the values and conduct section of the department,” a spokeswoman said, adding that the worker would be dealt with after that review had concluded.
