Madiba’s will didn’t honour the ANC of today

2014-02-09 10:00

The fact of the matter is that Nelson Mandela died a frail, distant, unsmiling, emotionless and numb old man.

I’m certain that Madiba’s will was drafted long before his health deteriorated.

My point here is that I believe the beloved departed statesman could have made a couple of adjustments and changes in his will and testament if he was in a better state of health.

Do we really think Madiba – as we know him – would have just kept quiet during family squabbles about his wealth and when his estate was contested in the courts? Do we think he would have kept quiet if he knew about the back-stabbing, powermongering, corruption and lies in the ANC, which was his home? The answer is a simple no.

We cannot dispute the fact that the ANC was Madiba’s political home and although he was human and not immune to making mistakes, Mandela was a good man who loved and respected his people, and was prepared to give his life for them. This is something that doesn’t exist in the ANC’s outlook today.

It’s beyond doubt that the ANC of today doesn’t live according to the principles, ideologies, morals and beliefs of Dalibunga, and the ANC he grew up into and led.

Mandela was never a selfish, self-centred and corrupt man who only thought of himself.

Here I’m talking about a man who, in his closing address during the 49th national conference of the ANC on December 22 1994, was unapologetic and not scared to say: “If the ANC does to you what the apartheid government did to you, then you must do to the ANC what you did to the apartheid government.”

Is this not what the ANC is doing to the people of South Africa today?

Truth be told, the Mandela we knew wasn’t going to approve of the current state of the ANC, let alone leave a share of his wealth to the party that has turned its back on its own people – unless he was a charlatan and a sellout, of course.
