Majavu is PSL’s new chief

2011-06-30 14:12

A former Premier Soccer League prosecutor was today announced as the new chief executive of the league.

Zola Majavu replaces Norwegian Kjetil Siem, whose contract with the league expired at the end of the 2010/11 season.

Former MTN executive Cambridge Monkanyane was also unveiled as the league’s new chief operating officer. He replaces the ageing Ronnie Schloss.

Majavu said he was humbled by the responsibility bestowed on him by the league’s executive committee, promising to maintain the high standards set by his predecessors.

He said his biggest challenge would be to improve the brand value of the league and to make sure that the league claims its rightful place in world football.

Said Majavu after his appointment: “Your trust in me is not misplaced and I will be equal to the task and will not fail this trust bestowed on me.”

He also promised to execute the league’s policies without fear or favour.

Dr Irvin Khoza, chairman of the league, said the executive had been impressed by Majavu and had vowed to support him to ensure his success.
