2010-12-03 10:02

An Ennerdale, Johannesburg, man was arrested for allegedly raping his 13-year-old daughter over the past six years, Gauteng police said today.

The man was arrested yesterday after police delivered a talk at the girl’s primary school about rape and abuse on Wednesday, World Aids Day, Constable Edwin Ntsheo said.

The girl approached police after their presentation. She explained she had been sexually abused, allegedly by her 41-year-old father since she was seven.

Police questioned her mother, who was allegedly unaware of the abuse. She opened a rape case on behalf of her daughter at the Ennerdale police station.

The father was phoned to come to the police station where he was arrested.

He allegedly claimed his daughter asked him to sleep with her.

He will appear on rape charges in the Vereeniging Magistrates Court on Monday.
