Man arrested for shooting at police officer

Police have arrested a man after he shot at a police officer in Delft, Cape Town, Western Cape police said today.

Last night, police followed a suspicious car to a house in Belhar, said Captain Frederick Van Wyk.

When police entered the house, a 38-year-old man fired shots at them.

A police officer was hit by two bullets, but was not wounded as he was wearing a bulletproof vest.

The man was arrested for attempted murder and possession of an unlicensed firearm. In a separate incident in Delft on the same day, police arrested two men, aged 20 and 36, when two packets of tik and an unlicensed firearm were found in their car.
