Man ‘raped stepdaughter, impregnated her’

2013-03-08 13:34

A man accused of raping his daughter for 12 years has appeared in the Nelspruit Regional Court.

Magistrate Willie Wilkins postponed the matter to April 3 so that the man could appoint new legal representatives after his lawyer withdrew.

“I have consulted with my wife and she told me she was busy organising me another attorney,” said the 53-year-old man from Kanyamazane, near White River in Mpumalanga.

He also refused to have an interpreter, stating he would testify in English.

The man has not yet been asked to plead.

He allegedly raped his daughter, now 23 years old, from when she was 11, impregnating her three times since 2001 and forcing her to terminate the pregnancies.

The man, who also has two sons and is a taxi owner, was arrested in March last year.
