Marikana commission likely to be postponed

2012-10-03 09:56

The Marikana Commission of inquiry is likely to be postponed until next week.

Members of the commission and lawyers representing various parties in the matter are currently locked in a meeting to mull over the issue.

Lawyers have raised concern that the families of those who died during the strike violence are not in attendance.

Concern has also been raised that postmortem results and video footage have not been made available to all parties, which could hamper the work of the commission.

The commission was set to hear evidence on pathology reports, postmortems and video footage today, following yesterday’s in loco inspection of various sites of violent scenes.

A decision is expected to be made after the meeting.
