Mark Harrison named new Golden Arrows boss

2013-10-07 10:57

Mark Harrison has been appointed new coach of Premiership club Golden Arrows, the Durban club has announced.

The Englishman replaces Manqoba Mngqithi, who ended his second stint at the club on Saturday by handing in his resignation following a troubled start to the season.

“Abafana Bes’thende have appointed Mark Harrison as their new head coach effective immediately,” the statement released today read.

Harrison (52), who had previously coached South African clubs Black Aces and Santos, submitted his resignation at First Division outfit Chippa United yesterday.

His predecessor Mngqithi was the second coach to vacate his position at a top-flight club this season after rookies Polokwane City axed Duncan Lechesa last month.

Arrows were currently fourth from bottom on the Premiership table after losing four of their opening six games.

They did, however, produce the upset of the weekend in the Telkom Knockout when they beat Bidvest Wits 3-2 in the opening round on Friday.
