2012-10-01 07:10

A teenager who went on a matric dance date with Olympic swimming champion Chad Le Clos said she felt like a princess during the event.

“It was amazing. I felt like a princess,” Melanie Olhaus (17), who attends Glenvista High School, was quoted as saying by the Star.

Olhaus was at OR Tambo International Airport in August to welcome the gold medallist back home after the London Olympics. She held up a poster asking Le Clos to be her date. He walked up to her and agreed.

Le Clos carried her out of the car before putting her on the red carpet into the Birchwood Hotel in Boksburg.

“I had so much fun with Chad ... everyone wanted pictures with him. It was hectic, but I didn’t mind.”

The swimmer was a good a dancer, she said.

“I really didn’t expect him to come to both the matric dance and the after party. I had fun with him.”

Le Clos had to leave the party shortly after 1am to fly to Dubai for a swimming commitment.
