Metrorail boss gets the chop

2010-04-15 12:12

Metrorail’s Western Cape regional manager, Stephen Ngobeni, has

been removed from his post after allegedly lying to his seniors about a bonus

offer to staff.

The announcement was made today by Group Chief Executive of the

Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa, Lucky Montana, to cheering workers in

Cape Town.

The move is expected to bring an end to the strike in the province

by hundreds of members of the SA Transport and Allied Workers’ Union.

Montana also announced that he had sacked the former chief

executive of Metrorail, Sisa Mtwa, for “showing signs of insurbordination”.
