2014-09-08 17:23

A teacher who allegedly murdered his former lover and her son because he believed she infected him with HIV could not be found in prison ahead of court proceedings, the Pietermaritzburg High Court has heard.

The investigating officer had tried to find the accused, Nolanso Khwela, in the Pietermaritzburg New Prison before court started today.

The 29-year-old inmate had not been found by the time proceedings began.

The matter was postponed to tomorrow.

Khwela allegedly murdered fellow teacher Bonakele Millicent Sibiya and her son Mfanafuthi Sibiya (7) near Durban on March 28. She is believed to have ended their relationship.

Khwela, a teacher in Cato Ridge, found out that Sibiya, a teacher at Bergville, and her son were going to Durban for the holidays.

He found them near Durban, gave them a lift and allegedly strangled them before burning their bodies.

Their incinerated bodies were found the next day.
