More immigration officials for COP-17

2011-11-17 14:27

Ninety-six more immigration officials will be deployed for the international climate conference (COP17) in Durban, the home affairs department said today.

Director general Mkuseli Apleni said in Pretoria that the 11 814 delegates had already been pre-screened by law enforcement agencies.

“We will be providing visa exemptions to all delegates whose entry will be facilitated through dedicated counters at the OR Tambo, Cape Town and King Shaka International airports.”

The summit begins on November 28 and ends on December 9.

Apleni said the heads of state expected would be provided with immigration facilities at the Waterkloof air force base in Pretoria.
