Movie review – A very bad Bradshaw

2011-12-23 13:06

Film: I Don’t Know How She Does It (Ster Kinekor)
Director: Douglas McGrath
Featuring: Sarah Jessica Parker, Greg Kinnear and Pierce Brosnan
Rating: 4/10

I Don’t Know How I Did It – sat through this tosh, that is.

This is like a leap forward in the life of Carrie Bradshaw and it ain’t pretty.

Sarah Jessica Parker does a version of Bradshaw, all she’s capable of it seems, but without the fabulous shoes.

She also looks like a stick of biltong, far too thin and over-toned for a woman her age.

She’s Kate Reddy, a high-powered executive who is great at her job, but for some reason feels obliged to compete with the men in the office by staying late and never mentioning her family.

When a big job comes through, she gets it and has to spend even more time away from home working with a handsome, rich older man (Pierce Brosnan).

Her husband, Richard (Greg Kinnear), is left holding the baby while
she jets around working, feeling guilty.

This film could’ve been condensed into the length of a Sex and the City episode if Kate had the, erm, balls to say to her boss, “I’ve done the work, so I don’t need to sit here pretending to work and I have a family to go
home to.”

Even a die-hard Sex and the City fan like me wanted to smack SJP about 10 minutes into this.
