Mpisanes to launch new football club

2014-08-15 13:37

Flamboyant Durban businessperson Shauwn Mpisane and her husband S’bu, who have made headlines for their legal battles with the South African Revenue Service, will officially launch their football club Royal Eagles this weekend.

The official launch of the club is set to take place at Durban’s Moses Mabhida Stadium. According to the invitation sent to the media, S’bu is chairperson of the club.

The head coach is Duncan Lechesa, who was the coach of national first division team FC Cape Town, and the team manager is Richard Makhoba, who was chief executive of another first division team, United FC.

The Mpisanes bought the Sivutsa Stars club, which was based in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga.

It was not known how much they paid for the club, but according to the Soccer-Laduma website the deal was made in April.

The Royal Eagles would play their first match in the national first division against Baroka FC at Durban’s Chatsworth Stadium next Friday.
