Mthatha man killed on birthday

A 50-year-old bus owner has been shot and killed in his home during

his birthday party in Mthatha, Eastern Cape police have said.

Lieutenant Colonel Mzukisi Fatyela said: “The two assailants

arrived with firearms and shot and killed him.”

The gunmen shot the 50-year-old twice yesterday around 6.30pm with

a 9mm pistol and fled.

The deceased, who was celebrating with his family at Chris Hani

Park, was shot once in the head and chest. When paramedics arrived on the scene

he was declared dead.

The motive for the killing was not yet known.
