Munich defender Breno remains behind bars

Munich – Bayern Munich defender Breno remains in custody in connection with an arson investigation, the local prosecution office said today.

Munich prosecution office spokesperson Barbara Stockinger said after a hearing that a court wanted to wait for more results from an ongoing police investigation.

Breno (21) was arrested on suspicion of arson on Saturday following a fire at his house last week.

Breno’s lawyer Werner Leitner said after the court hearing that Breno had cooperated with the authorities and that he expected him to be released soon.

Munich club officials hinted that they would help if Breno was released on bail.

The case which has led to a lot of speculation, with news reports alleging unspecified domestic problems and that the player faced yet another knee operation in an injury plagued career.
