Murder charges dropped ‘with no reasons’

Charges have been dropped against three of the four men accused of killing Linden, Joburg, bed and breakfast owner Georgie Jacklin.

Beeld newspaper reported today that “no reasons were given” in the Johannesburg Regional Court for the decision to withdraw charges against Ronnie Chazuka (24) Given Goko (27) and Marco Gouveia (32).

Kyle Deon Gilbert (22) still faced charges of robbery and murder. He was expected to go in trial in the Johannesburg High Court in September.

Jacklin disappeared from her Linden guesthouse on February 4. Her body was found two days later next to the Vaal River in Viljoensdrif, Sasolburg.

Gilbert and Gouveia were arrested after being found in possession of her car, while Chakuza and Goko were arrested when the police found Jacklin’s cellphone and laptop in their possession.

Jacklin (65), died after suffering head injuries.
