Limpopo police have had their hands full over the Easter weekend, dealing with serious crimes ranging from murder, attempted murder and rape, a spokesperson said on Saturday.

Lieutenant Colonel Mohale Ramatseba said a 21-year-old man was arrested for allegedly murdering a 20-year-old man at a tavern at Mandlakazi. The suspect will appear in court on Tuesday.

In Magatle, a 34-year-old man was arrested in connection with the death of his brother. The two men had been drinking together and the motive for the murder is not known.

A 66-year-old elderly man in Bergnek committed suicide after stabbing a 43-year old woman to death.

The man accused the woman of bewitching him. He drank a poisonous substance after stabbing the woman.

When police arrived the man began vomiting and later died.

Meanwhile police in Tzaneen are investigating a case of attempted murder after a 36-year-old man from Makhushane village in Namakgale was shot in the leg yesterday. It is alleged the victim was parked at Tarentaal filling station when he was shot.

Police in Tshamutumbu have also arrested a 17-year-old boy in connection with the rape of an 85-year-old woman.

The crimes were committed between Friday afternoon and early Saturday morning.
