NPA appeal against Mdluli ruling ‘regrettable’

2013-10-09 08:49

The National Prosecuting Authority is appealing against Judge John Murphy’s judgment on former crime intelligence boss Richard Mdluli.

“Newly appointed national director of public prosecutions Mxolisi Nxasana announced ... (yesterday) during portfolio committee hearings ... that the appeal against Judge John Murphy’s Mdluli judgment had just been filed,” said DA MP Dene Smuts.

“The DA regrets the decision to go on appeal, but will respect the process,” she said.

Last month, Murphy set aside the withdrawal of fraud, corruption, murder and kidnapping charges against Mdluli.
