Ne-Yo is getting closer

NE-YO, the man behind the hit song Closer and Miss Independent says

he can’t wait to get to South Africa for his concerts next week.

Ne-Yo will be on stage next Saturday in Joburg and Cape Town the

following Tuesday.

The 30-year-old said he was looking forward to visiting South

Africa: “We did a couple of shows in Nigeria sometime back but I have never been

down south and I’ve heard so much about the beauty of your country.”

Talking about his show, Ne-Yo said it was about appreciation of

music: “You will be on your feet and party. You will sit down and vibe with the

music, you will be relaxed and enjoy music to fall in love to and want to give a

girl a hug. I also depend on the energy from the audience, without them there is

no show.”

A prolific songwriter, Ne-Yo has written songs for some of the most

successful singers like Beyonce, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Rihanna and Leona


“You know my songs are like my children, when they do well it means

I have also done well. Some of my fans also say they can tell when a song

performed by another artist is written by me and for me that’s a great

compliment,” says Ne-Yo.

He says his travelling essential: “I am easy going, as long as I am

on a long-distance flight and have my iPod I am happy.”

Ne-Yo is also known for his penchant for stylish headgear and

confesses to having over a thousand hats, caps and skull caps that travel on

their private plane, but for this trip he has selected a few to accompany him.
