The South African Post Office has appointed Mlungisi Mathonsi as its chief operating officer.

“He is a welcome addition to the executive leadership of the SA Post Office because he brings with him a wealth of invaluable industry experience. We are certainly positive about his contribution in our journey of building the company into a world class enabler of the economy,” Sapo said today.

Mathonsi’s appointment was with effect from July 1. He also became a board member of the Sapo Group and its subsidiaries.

His role would include leading Sapo’s day-to-day operations. His areas of responsibility include mail business, properties, retail and post office logistics.

Prior to joining the post office, Mathonsi served in various industry leadership roles, including being a director at Coca-Cola Southern Africa, a managing director at Coca-Cola Shanduka Beverages, and similar roles at Nampak and Bromor Foods.
