New deputy for Chamber of Mines

The Chamber of Mines of SA has appointed Mike Teke as deputy chairperson.

Teke, who will take over from Anglo American Platinum chief executive Neville Nicolau, is chief executive of Optimum Coal.

“Mr Teke is a former human resource director at Impala Platinum,” the chamber said in a statement today.

“He previously worked in human resources at Bayer and Samancor, and was vice president of human resources at Ingwe Collieries.”

Among the chamber’s office bearers are its president, BHP Billiton SA chairperson Xolani Mkhwanazi, and second vice-president Mark Cutifani, chief executive of AngloGold Ashanti.
