New talent for YFM

2011-04-04 12:21

YFM has selected emerging stars from non-commercial radio backgrounds to be the face and voices of some of its prime time slots.

Today, the station released its new line-up, which excludes DJ Oskido who recently joined Metro FM after working at the station for 14 years.

“In keeping with YFM’s ongoing commitment to unearthing and developing the hottest new talent, we remain bullish about the fact that we are still the leaders when it comes to discovering the best young radio talent South Africa has to offer,” said YFM programming manager Tumelo Diaho Monaheng.

“We are extremely proud of the fact that we do not have to look to other stations to recruit talent,” he said.

New voices include a University of Johannesburg law graduate and Durban local Zama Dube, who hosted a show on Voice of Wits Radio with a stint on Yebo Radio (Vodacom’s radio station) while studying. Dube will front the 10am to 12pm weekday slot.

Another new recruit is Bryce “DJ Ankle Tap” Clarke, a communications graduate who was the host on campus station UJFM for the past three years. He will take over the midnight to 3am slot.

Mo Flava remains in the breakfast slot. DJ Warras, Bonang Matheba, Sizwe Dhlomo and Siyabonga Ngwekazi, drive-time’s Dineo Ranaka and her co-host Bujy, the Twinz also keep their slots.

This line-up is effective as of today.
