No arrests have been made in connection with the stabbing of two small children in Dobsonville, Soweto.

“Police are investigating the matter and communicating with the community as part of the investigation,” Gauteng police spokesperson Warrant Officer Kay Makhubela said this morning.

The boys – aged two and three – and their 20-year-old mother, were stabbed during a robbery late on Tuesday night at their home in Dobsonville Extension 3. Two men were believed to be involved.

The boys’ 60-year-old grandmother was cut on her forehead during the robbery.

The two-year-old was stabbed three times in his head, and the three-year-old was stabbed eight times. The boys’ mother received multiple stab wounds on her left arm.

Following the robbery, the children were taken to hospital for treatment.

The robbers fled the scene with electrical appliances.
