No surprise at youth flirting with miners

2010-10-02 15:35

It amazes me that South Africans are surprised by the ANC Youth League’s “flirting” with mining companies.

Political positions have become synonymous with fraud, undisclosed business interests and R1?million Mercs.

It is clear to everyone that most South African politicians get into positions of power to serve themselves.

The youth league destroys toilets in Khayelitsha while its leaders live in Sandton.

What is masked by their desire for the wealth of the country’s mineral resources to be shared by all is their hunger to suck as much money as they can from the government, while they can.

This explains why Fikile Mbalula?– the deputy police minister (which has nothing to do with minerals and energy) – and Julius Malema, who we have seen rise from rags to riches because of his position as the president of the youth league, are pushing this agenda.

If they want to share in the industry’s wealth they must buy shares like everyone else.

They must not confuse their desires with those of ordinary South Africans.
