Officer dies at station

A police officer died after he was shot at the Ennerdale Police Station this morning, Gauteng police said.

Captain Pinky Tsinyane said a 46-year-old man went to the police station around 7.30am and allegedly shot the officer.

Other police officers at the station heard the gun shots and rushed to the area.

They found the officer with gunshot wounds to his upper body.

He was rushed to the hospital but died there from his wounds. The motive of the attack was unknown.

The 46-year-old was arrested and is due to appear in court within 48 hours.

A case of murder was under investigation, Tsinyane said.
