Officer killed in Soweto

A 32-year-old police constable was shot dead by a gang of ATM

bombers at Braamfischerville in Soweto, Gauteng police said today.

Colonel Lungelo Dlamini said two ATMs were bombed just before

midnight last night.

Dlamini said: “We arrested one of the suspects, a 40-year-old man

on the scene. The rest got away in three motor vehicles.”

Police recovered one bakkie which was hijacked from Honeydew,
