One-legged pensioner arrested for rape

2010-05-17 08:48

A one-legged pensioner is in police custody for allegedly raping

his granddaughter’s friend.

The police’s Constable Edwin Ntsheo said the 12-year-old girl had

been visiting friends in Finetown, south of Johannesburg, on Friday night.

They were outside warming their hands on a fire at about 11.30pm

when her friend’s grandfather told the girls it was late and time to go

The four girls went to sleep but the victim said that she heard him

come into the room and put his crutches next to her bed.

He told her to take her underwear off and pressed his hand over her

mouth so that she would be quiet, said Ntsheo.

She said that he then raped her.

A friend of the girl’s mother took her to police where she told

what had happened to her and the man was arrested last night.

He was in police custody and was expected to appear in the

Vereeniging Magistrate’s Court soon.
