Opposition parties good for nothing – Blade Nzimande

2014-10-02 18:22

Higher Education Minister Blade Nzimande has launched a scathing attack on opposition parties in his speech at the SA Democratic Teachers Union's (Sadtu) eighth congress.

Nzimande today said opposition parties are dead and good for nothing, adding that anyone who attacks the SACP will not survive.

“All those who turn against the SACP are now out in the cold. It started with the Pan African Congress in the 60s. Look at the IFP, where is it? It is going underground, dead almost. Cope, where are they, dead”.

Of the EFF, he said it was a rightwing fascist organisation that is going nowhere.

“They threatened to walk away from Parliament, let them go for good, we will not miss them”, said Nzimande in Boksburg.

He refuted suggestion that parliament has become vibrant since the arrival of the EFF.

“The EFF has not brought any quality debate in Parliament. All they know is hooliganism. They have brought anarchy. When it comes to debate, they have nothing to offer”.

The DA, he said, was in a sorry state as it has allowed itself to be led by the EFF in Parliament.

“I pity the DA’s voters, they vote for the DA, but they are now led by the EFF in Parliament”.

Nzimande also took time to lash out at Sadtu, saying the union has a bad image.

“It is being torn apart and is regarded as a union which is not concerned with the education of the African child. Don’t be defensive when we criticise you. Sadtu is a great and revolutionary union and as the SACP we are proud to be associated with Sadtu”.

He also urged Sadtu’s members to protect the unity of the alliance.
