Ausi Monki is probably the most famous woman in South Africa right now. And no, it’s not because she was the last person standing on the latest season of South Africa’s Biggest Loser.

The woman got hitched on national television to a guy young enough to be her son.

As always, Twitterville and Facebookland went crazy when Monki and Patrick Motsepe popped up on our TV screens as the featured couple on Sunday’s episode of Our Perfect Wedding.

All sorts of nasty and jaw-dropping comments were shared between friends. But the common thread was Monki’s hideous brown, gold and white wedding gown, not that it deserves to be called a gown.

The dress was a mix of satin, lace and God knows what else. As for the veil, I have no comment – other than to say the fashion police should arrest anybody seen wearing it.

The couple looked very happy and smitten with each other – except for that awkward moment when they could not agree on Monki’s new surname.

AusiMonki, as the mother-in-law referred to her, eventually decided to drop the idea of taking a double-barrelled surname and went for Mrs Motsepe.

We loved it. It’s the most hilarious show on the box right now.
