Pan Africanist Congress (PAC) of Azania founder member Edward Sonnyboy Bhengu has died.

“Bhengu was a loyal member of the PAC and had been in and out of jail for his political activities,” said party spokesperson Lehlohonolo Shale in a statement.

He said that Bhengu – also the eldest brother of internationally celebrated poet Don Mattera – died yesterday morning at a Soweto hospice after liver complications.

Shale said that Bhengu, who was born on November 8, 1934, was affectionately known as “Bra Sanza”.
He will be buried on Friday in Soweto.

The party extended condolences to his family.
