Pasta pronto – Primi Junxion

2011-08-12 11:27

Exposed brick, bottles of colourful mixtures and waitrons dressed in orange is what you can expect to find at the Primi Junxion in Blackheath, Joburg. It is one of many franschises dotted throughout the country, each offering something different and unique.

The service at the Primi Junxion is friendly, albeit slow. The eatery was only half full so we expected better.

Our waiter was not paying attention. He took our utensils when he cleared our starters, but did not bring us clean ones when our mains arrived.

We had to ask for the condiments tray of garlic, parmesan and chilli and when he brought it, it only had the garlic. The service wasn’t terrible (I’ve seen worse), but it could’ve been improved.

Best on the menu

There’s lots – from gourmet burgers to line-fish, pizzas and pastas.

By far the best thing on the menu is the Recco pasta. It’s the perfect blend of tomatoes and has a creamy texture. The spices are rich, warm and full. Its slight curry taste doesn’t overwhelm the pasta.

It is a must-try for vegetarians and for meat lovers there is a chicken option available.

Surprisingly not full from our pasta dinners, we opted to share the chocolate brownies and ice-cream.

Hard on the outside, it was moist and chewy on the inside.

The portion was huge and enough for two.

Expect to find
Young, beautiful things dressed in casual chic, munching on pre-clubbing dinner. When I visited Primi Junxion, Black Coffee and his actress wife were dining a few tables away, and enjoyed a few stares and smiles from fans.

This restaurant-cum-bar is perfect for a night out with friends thanks to its relaxed dining area (smokers take note: they have an inside smoking area), with great music from house to old school hits, good food and a wonderful atmosphere.
