Pastor arrested for rape – again

2012-01-04 12:49

A 50-year-old pastor, already out on bail in connection with a charge of rape, was arrested yesterday for a different rape and today another young woman alleged that he raped her too.

The pastor was arrested at his home in Seshego yesterday, after he was released on R2 000 bail on a rape charge involving a 14-year-old girl, Brigadier Hangwani Mulaudzi said.

In the latest case, the pastor is accused of raping a young woman – now aged 18 – between 2009 and 2010.

“It is alleged the victim went to the pastor to be prayed for as she was not feeling well. The victim was then allegedly raped.”

The pastor was expected to appear in the Polokwane Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Mulaudzi said the same pastor had appeared in the Seshego Magistrates Court yesterday in connection with the rape of the 14-year-old. He was granted R2 000 bail and that case was postponed to January 17.

“It is alleged the suspect raped the girl in Seshego between August and September 2011.”

And in another development, police said a third case of rape was opened against the pastor today. It involved a 20-year-old woman, who alleged the pastor raped her between July and October last year.

“We are investigating... for now we focus on the three charges. If there are people who might have been victims they must report it to the police.”

In all the cases the women had gone to the pastor for prayer and healing.

A statement on the pastor’s church website reads: “This is the place where we see practical miracles of God every day. The place where people come face to face with the fire of God and receive their total deliverance no matter the situation or the circumstances.”
