‘People do not listen’ despite fewer festive season road deaths

Road fatalities declined by 0.6% in the past festive season to 1 368, Transport Minister Dipuo Peters said today, expressing dissatisfaction with the high number of deaths.

Peters said it was of grave concern that South Africans failed to obey traffic rules, didn’t avoid drinking and driving, and didn’t maintain their vehicles in a roadworthy condition.
