Petros still in discussions over contract – police

2013-08-01 13:19

Gauteng provincial police commissioner Lieutenant-General Mzwandile Petros, whose contract ends mid-August, has not resigned, police have said.

“We wish to highlight that Lt-Gen Petros has not resigned,” said spokesperson Lt-Gen Solomon Makgale.

EWN reported earlier today that Petros would leave his position when his contract ends on August 15. He reportedly made the announcement during a police function at Mogale City last night.

Makgale confirmed that Petros’ contract was coming to an end, but said he was in discussions with national commissioner General Riah Phiyega.

“Lieutenant-General Petros and the national commissioner are in discussions about his contract and other matters. General Riah Phiyega will make an announcement in this regard in the near future,” said Makgale.

Petros served as provincial commissioner of the Western Cape for seven years and has held his current position in Gauteng for almost three years.
