Phiyega concludes talks with Petros over contract

National police commissioner Riah Phiyega has held discussions with Gauteng commissioner Lt-Gen Mzwandile Petros regarding his employment contract.

“Discussions about Lt-Gen Petros’s employment contract and other related issues have been concluded,” her spokesman Lt-Gen Solomon Makgale said in a statement today.

“She [Phiyega] has undertaken to engage the public on the matter before the end of August 2013.”

Petros’s contract ends mid-August.

He served as provincial commissioner of the Western Cape for seven years and has held his current position in Gauteng for almost three years.
