Everyday African heroes are profiled in this documentary series about African and Asian health professionals ­saving their communities from diseases. It was filmed by South African producers. It shows ­dramatic ­breakthroughs at the front line of public health. The first episode tackles river blindness in Uganda and trachoma in Ethiopia.



M-Net Series Showcase, 9pm

David Giuntoli is Nick, a homicide detective in Portland who discovers he’s a descendent of a family of hunters who fight supernatural beings. Based – a bit – on fairy tales handed down by the Brothers Grimm, this addictive series has really stepped up a notch in its second season.


Tyler Perry’s The Haves and the Have Nots

It’s high drama in the soapie tonight as Wyatt kills a little girl in a hit-and-run. Jim is unsure of what to do next once his campaign begins to fall apart and Benny ends up on life support.
