Pikitup boss cleared of wrongdoing in R263m tender

2015-02-11 09:23

Suspended Pikitup managing director Amanda Nair has been cleared of wrongdoing relating to the awarding of a multimillion-rand tender.

“The bidding process for the tender was initiated prior to the appointment of Ms Nair as managing director of Pikitup, and was processed following normal supply chain management procedures,” City of Joburg mayoral committee member Matshidiso Mfikoe was quoted as saying by The Star.

He said Nair had been cleared of all allegations, and there was no reason not to reinstate her.

Nair was accused of awarding a R263-million tender to Aqua Transport Plant Hire after the company was implicated in fraud.

Nair was suspended for a year and a new board of directors made the decision to reinstate her.

She’s due to resume her duties tomorrow.
