Pirates juniors boss battles?‘age jealousy’

Fuming Orlando Pirates development boss Augusto Palacios has

challenged everyone who claims his players are over-aged to prove their

allegations or stop spreading nasty rumours.

Palacios’ outburst came in the wake of accusations levelled against

his side’s Under-15 team that won the Manchester United Nike Premier Under-15

Regional League and national under-17 side. Palacios confirmed that Tshepo

Diphoko was playing for the club’s Under-19 side and the Regional League but

said there was nothing wrong with that.

Palacios added that most of their juniors play with the senior team

to make them more competitive.

Palacios said: “I have checked his documents and he was born in

1995 and that makes him 15. People should come forward if they have any proof

that our players are over-aged.”

He said that last year they expelled 30 players who were found to

have falsified their documents: “We have cleaned our structures and we have all

documents from primary schools, clinics, Home Affairs and affidavits from all

He said they sacrificed a lot to win the tournament as the players

did not enjoy the school holidays as they were preparing for the event.
